History

Directory Specialists, Inc. was originally formed by Joe Glick and Jerry Gorman in 1973 and merged with Telephone Marketing Programs, Inc. in 1979 to enhance our marketing and computer capabilities. After 17 years of a successful partnership, TMP Worldwide stated their intentions to restructure some of the divisions prior to their IPO during the summer of 1996. Joe was offered the opportunity to reacquire the Danville Division. He felt it would be an excellent opportunity and we would have the best of both worlds. We were able to continue to use the resources of a billion-dollar agency and own ourselves exclusively. Therefore, TelXtra was established on August 1, 1996 becoming its own entity.

We maintain our corporate headquarters in Danville, IL and branch offices in the Pittsburgh, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC metropolitan areas. Our greatest resource is our people-professionals who understand what it takes to make your program work. The TelXtra staff has more than 25 years or over 175 years of combined experience in the yellow pages industry.
